Koilonychia
A normal nail has a mild side-to-side curvature. In Koilonychia case this curvature is absent and the nail-plate is flat, it is called 'platynychia' (flat nail) and in case the curvature is further reversed and the nail shows a concavity (depression of the central part of the nail plate), it is called 'koilonychia'. Most commonly Koilonychia is associated with iron-deficiency anaemia, though occasionally it may not be associated with any cause.
